Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable physics teacher to instruct junior and senior students in a college-preparatory setting, including honors and/or International Baccalaureate (IB) levels. This course combines lecture, lab, demonstrations, class discussions, and hands-on activities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of fundamental physics principles and the ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner that inspires students.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver high-quality instruction in physics, aligned with course objectives and student needs
Design and implement lessons that include lab work, demonstrations, and interactive activities
Evaluate and track student performance through assignments, labs, assessments, and participation
Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and other required documentation
Provide individualized support and extra help to students outside of class time
Collaborate with colleagues, participate in department and faculty meetings, and contribute to school-wide initiatives
Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and the broader school community
Maintain a classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students
Ensure proper use and care of classroom materials, lab equipment, and facilities
Support school operations through occasional duties such as lunch coverage, study hall supervision, and exam proctoring
Potentially teach MCAS math preparation classes for sophomores as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in physical science (preferably in physics)
Successful completion of the Physics MTEL (Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure)
