Job Description:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a committed and compassionate Special Education Teacher to support a caseload of students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans. This role is essential to ensuring that all students receive the specialized instruction, accommodations, and support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct and indirect instructional support to students in accordance with their IEPs or 504 Plans within a positive, inclusive learning environment.
Establish clear, measurable objectives for all lessons and communicate these goals to students.
Employ a variety of specialized instructional strategies and techniques, such as phonics, multi-sensory approaches, and repetition, to support the development of skills in language, cognition, motor coordination, and memory.
Deliver differentiated instruction tailored to individual learning styles and academic needs.
Maintain classroom expectations aligned with the school-wide behavior model to create a safe and structured environment for all students.
Accurately maintain service logs, lesson plans, and data collection records, in compliance with state and federal regulations.
Act as the case manager and primary point of contact for all students on your caseload.
Attend and contribute meaningfully to all IEP and 504 meetings.
Prepare and distribute quarterly progress reports for students receiving services.
Collaborate regularly with families, general education teachers, administrators, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive and holistic educational plans.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and weekly grade-level or department team meetings.
Assist in the preparation and administration of state and district assessments, as required.
Engage in ongoing professional development and remain current with best practices in special education.
Perform other related duties as assigned (e.g., afternoon duty, material preparation, documentation management).
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree in Special Education or a related field preferred
Valid Massachusetts teaching licensure in Special Education or eligibility for licensure
SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement required
Strong knowledge of IEP/504 development and implementation
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students
Prior experience in a charter school or high-expectation academic environment is a plus
