Special Education Teacher (K–8)

About the Role
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our K–8 team. In this role, you will provide both direct and indirect instructional support to students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans, helping them succeed in a structured and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver instructional support aligned with students’ IEPs and 504 Plans in inclusive classroom settings

  • Apply research-based, multisensory strategies to support cognitive, language, and academic development

  • Set clear, measurable goals and monitor student progress in both academic and behavioral areas

  • Serve as case manager for students on your caseload and facilitate IEP meetings

  • Maintain accurate documentation, including service logs, lesson plans, and performance data

  • Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and families to support individualized learning goals

  • Promote positive behavior through proactive classroom management and school-wide expectations

  • Ensure accommodations are implemented during standardized testing

  • Contribute to curriculum development, data review meetings, and professional learning opportunities

  • Take on additional duties as assigned (e.g., supervision, clerical support, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (required)

  • SEI Endorsement (required)

  • Strong communication, organization, and data analysis skills

  • Knowledge of IEP and 504 development, compliance, and implementation

  • Experience applying instructional best practices in diverse classroom settings

  • Collaborative mindset with openness to feedback and continuous growth

  • Must successfully complete all applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment

Reporting Structure
This is a full-time, school-year position reporting directly to the Head of Special Education. Annual performance reviews are conducted to support professional growth and excellence.
