K–8 Music Teacher – Job Description:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Music Teacher to lead its Kindergarten through 8th Grade music program. The ideal candidate will be a passionate music educator who can inspire students, foster a love for music, and build a solid foundation in musical skills and appreciation.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement the K–8 music curriculum in accordance with Core Knowledge standards.
Deliver dynamic and engaging music instruction with clearly defined learning objectives.
Assess student progress through regular evaluations, and prepare progress reports and report cards as required.
Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Specials Department and maintain open communication with the assigned Assistant Director.
Establish and maintain a positive, well-managed classroom using the school’s assertive discipline model.
Actively participate in all staff meetings and professional development opportunities.
Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education (required).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to assess student needs and adjust instructional methods accordingly.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support data-driven instruction.
Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Understanding of state and federal education regulations, as well as MVRCS policies and expectations.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities.
Solid knowledge of music pedagogy, curriculum design, and instructional best practices.
Ability to develop and implement lessons that align with school-wide goals and support diverse learners.
Successful completion of all applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment.
U.S. work authorization required.
This is a full-time, annually appointed position, subject to yearly performance evaluations.
