About Mystic Valley Regional Charter School
Founded in 1998, Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is a public charter school located in Malden, Massachusetts, serving more than 1,700 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across four campuses. MVRCS draws students from the surrounding communities of Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, and Wakefield.
Mystic Valley operates on an extended school day (8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) and a 200-day academic year, providing students with significantly more instructional time than traditional public schools. Students follow a formal dress code and learn in a structured, academically rigorous environment grounded in traditional pedagogy, high expectations, and the faithful implementation of carefully selected curricula.

Key Responsibilities
- Implement the established History curriculum, including International Baccalaureate (IB) content where applicable
- Teach five History classes daily using Core Knowledge and IB instructional methodologies
- Design and deliver lessons with clear, standards-aligned objectives
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback, including progress reports and report cards
- Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Department Chair and school leadership
- Collaborate with the History Department on curriculum planning, data analysis, and instructional improvement
- Uphold the school’s structured discipline model and maintain strong classroom management
- Participate actively in staff meetings, team meetings, and professional development
- Support school-wide initiatives, events, and activities
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the History Department Chair and school leadership
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in History or a related field required
- Demonstrated content expertise and enthusiasm for teaching History
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze data and use it to inform instruction
- Effective classroom management and organizational skills
- Proven ability to collaborate professionally with students, families, colleagues, and administrators
- Familiarity with curriculum standards, educational law, and school policies
- Experience assessing student performance and writing progress reports
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Successful completion of relevant Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within one year of employment
