Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS) is a public charter school located in Malden, Massachusetts, serving more than 1,550 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 across four campuses:
- Kindergarten: 576 Eastern Avenue
- Lower School (Grades 1–8): 770 Salem Street
- High School (Grades 9–12): 238 and 306 Highland Avenue
MVRCS serves students from Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Stoneham, and Wakefield. The school follows an extended-day, extended-year academic model, with classes held from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. over a 200-day school year.
Job Summary
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a compassionate, organized, and dedicated School Nurse (Registered Nurse) to promote the health, safety, and well-being of our students. The School Nurse plays a vital role in supporting student success by providing direct nursing care, managing student health records, responding to medical emergencies, and collaborating with families, faculty, and healthcare providers.

Responsibilities
- Provide assessment, treatment, and nursing care for students with illness or injury during the school day.
- Respond to medical emergencies and administer first aid and emergency care as needed.
- Assess students presenting with health concerns and determine appropriate interventions.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student illnesses, injuries, and health concerns, including recommending dismissal from school when appropriate.
- Maintain accurate, confidential student health records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Review, monitor, and maintain immunization and health compliance records.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs), emergency care plans, and other student health accommodations as needed.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policy.
- Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, and families to support students with chronic health conditions and medical needs.
- Promote student wellness through health education and preventative care initiatives.
- Educate students on topics such as hygiene, handwashing, illness prevention, and healthy habits.
- Assist in developing and implementing school-wide health and wellness programs.
- Ensure compliance with all Massachusetts Department of Public Health regulations and school health policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the school's health services program.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience in a school, pediatric, public health, or community health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts school health regulations and immunization requirements preferred.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and time management skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
