Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lessons that promote historical inquiry, critical thinking, and a strong understanding of historical events, cultures, and civilizations.
  • Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student progress and guide instructional planning.
  • Analyze student performance data to differentiate instruction and maximize student achievement.
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and school leadership to ensure curriculum alignment and instructional consistency.
  • Maintain a structured, respectful learning environment that supports high academic and behavioral expectations.
  • Foster student engagement, intellectual curiosity, and a growth mindset.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and academic expectations.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, curriculum planning, and other school-wide initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school leadership.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in History, Social Studies, Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Massachusetts teaching license or eligibility for licensure preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of history and social studies content.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and classroom management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to improve outcomes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Commitment to collaboration, continuous professional growth, and academic excellence.
  • Enthusiasm for working within a structured, high-expectation educational environment and extended school day/year model.
