Position Overview: Elementary Teacher (Grades 1–6)
Mystic Valley is seeking a passionate and collaborative Elementary Teacher to join our academic team. This role offers the opportunity to teach in a content-rich, structured, and highly supportive environment where instruction is grounded in the Direct Instruction model and the Core Knowledge Sequence. Key Responsibilities:
Establish and maintain a well-managed classroom aligned with school expectations and instructional goals
Deliver daily lessons using the Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge curricula with fidelity
Utilize behavior management strategies, including the 4:1 positive reinforcement model
Monitor and document student progress daily; submit weekly updates to the Professional Development Coordinator
Provide feedback on curriculum effectiveness and student performance
Attend and actively participate in all required staff meetings and professional development sessions
Collaborate regularly in grade-level team meetings, IEP meetings, and Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) discussions
Implement special education accommodations and maintain documentation as required
Complete and distribute quarterly progress reports and report cards for all assigned students
Conduct four parent-teacher conferences annually (two in the fall, two in the spring)
Support and attend school events including Back to School Night, open houses, holiday performances, and assemblies
Fulfill assigned supervisory duties such as morning arrival, lunch/recess coverage, and dismissal
Adhere to and enforce all MVRCS policies and procedures
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school leadership
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collect and analyze student data to inform instruction
Knowledge of school operations, educational policies, and relevant laws
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Strong classroom management, instructional, and organizational skills
Successful completion of applicable MTELs within one year of employment
Additional Information:
Full-time, 12-month, annual appointment
Subject to yearly performance evaluation
