Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code and benefit from an extended academic calendar of 200 instructional days, along with a school day that is approximately 60 minutes longer than that of traditional public schools. Position Overview
MVRCS is seeking a dedicated and mission-driven Elementary Teacher to serve students in Grades 4–6. The ideal candidate will bring a strong commitment to academic excellence, structured classroom instruction, and the development of a positive, high-expectation learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain consistent classroom structure, routines, and daily schedules
- Foster a positive classroom culture by reinforcing the 4:1 positive comment ratio for behavior management
- Deliver instruction using Direct Instruction and the Core Knowledge curriculum with fidelity
- Document daily lessons and student progress; submit weekly updates to the Professional Development Coordinator (PDC)
- Track and report weekly successes and challenges related to Core Knowledge implementation
- Participate in all scheduled professional development sessions
- Attend weekly grade-level meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and bi-monthly staff meetings
- Participate in IEP meetings as needed and complete all required special education documentation
- Implement classroom accommodations and modifications in accordance with IEPs and 504 plans
- Complete four progress reports and four report cards annually for all assigned students
- Conduct four parent-teacher conferences per year (two in the fall, two in the spring)
- Attend school-wide events, including Back to School Night, Open Houses, the Holiday Performance, and the High School Senior Luncheon
- Fulfill assigned duties, including morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon coverage
- Adhere to all school policies, procedures, and expectations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze data, assess student progress, and make informed instructional decisions
- Strong understanding of school policies, state and federal regulations, and MVRCS expectations
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a team-oriented environment
- Strong instructional, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Successful completion of required MTEL exams within one year of employment

This is an annual appointment, with performance evaluated on a yearly basis.
