Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for a 200-day academic year. The extended school day, approximately 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools, provides additional time for rigorous instruction and meaningful learning experiences. Position Overview: Grades 7–12 Spanish Teacher
The Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering Mystic Valley Regional Charter School’s Spanish program to students in Grades 7–12. Instruction is grounded in the Core Knowledge curriculum and methodology, with opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the high school level.
This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about language instruction, committed to academic excellence, and eager to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing department.
Key Responsibilities
Implement the Spanish curriculum in alignment with Core Knowledge and, where applicable, IB standards
Teach up to five classes daily, each meeting regularly and aligned with established curriculum expectations
Plan and deliver lessons with clear, measurable learning objectives
Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through progress reports and report cards
Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Languages Department to align curriculum, analyze student data, and refine instructional practices
Maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Languages Department Chair and/or Assistant Director
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Spanish or a related field required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze information, assess student performance, and make data-informed instructional decisions
Proven ability to build and maintain positive, professional relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Strong organizational and time management skills
Collaborative mindset with the ability to contribute effectively within a team environment
Deep content knowledge in Spanish language and culture
Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals
Experience evaluating student performance and communicating findings clearly
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
U.S. work authorization required
