Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS), located in Malden, Massachusetts, was founded in 1998 and serves more than 1,750 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code and complete 200 days of instruction each year. The school day is also 60 minutes longer than that of most traditional public schools. Job Description
The English Teacher is responsible for implementing Mystic Valley Regional Charter School’s English program for students in Grades 7–12. Instruction follows the Core Knowledge and Great Books programs in both curriculum and methodology.
MVRCS also offers the rigorous and internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the high school level. High school English teaching assignments may include IB coursework.
Responsibilities
Implement the English curriculum in accordance with the documented program of study, including the Great Books literature program and, when applicable, the IB curriculum.
Teach up to five subject-area classes, each meeting daily.
Deliver instruction aligned with Core Knowledge and IB methodologies.
Develop and deliver lessons and instructional units with clear learning objectives.
Regularly assess student progress and provide progress reports and report cards as required.
Administer standardized assessments as directed by the English Department Chair and Leadership Team.
Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the English Department on curriculum, instruction, assessment, data analysis, and teaching methodology.
Implement the school’s assertive discipline model with consistency and fidelity.
Attend all staff meetings and participate in professional development activities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the English Department Chair or Assistant Director.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in English (required).
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to write reports, correspondence, and other professional documentation.
Ability to analyze information, identify problems, and recommend appropriate solutions.
Ability to collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the broader school community.
Ability to perform duties in accordance with school policies as well as state and federal regulations.
Experience evaluating student performance and writing reports summarizing findings.
Strong collaboration, instructional, and leadership skills to support student learning and work effectively within a team environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
Knowledge of English content standards and instructional best practices.
Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school objectives and the needs of assigned students.
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment.
This position reports to the English Department Chair. The role is evaluated annually and is appointed on a yearly basis.
