Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for 200 instructional days each year and benefit from an extended school day, approximately 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. Position Overview: Grades 7–12 Science Teacher
Full-Time | Malden, MA
MVRCS is seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Science Teacher for Grades K–12. The ideal candidate is passionate about science education and committed to delivering rigorous, content-rich instruction in a structured and supportive classroom environment.
Instruction is aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and methodology, with opportunities to teach within the International Baccalaureate (IB) program at the high school level.
Key Responsibilities
Implement the Science curriculum in Grades K–12, including Core Knowledge and, where applicable, IB coursework
Teach up to five classes daily, each aligned with established curriculum and instructional expectations
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons with clear and measurable learning objectives
Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through progress reports and report cards
Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Science Department Chair and Leadership Team
Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Science Department to align curriculum, analyze data, and refine instructional practices
Maintain a structured classroom environment using the school’s discipline model
Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Science Department Chair and/or Assistant Director
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, or General Science required
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to analyze data, assess student performance, and adjust instruction accordingly
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Strong organizational and time management skills
Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within a team environment
Deep content knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline
Ability to design and implement lessons aligned with school and curricular goals
Experience evaluating student performance and communicating findings clearly
Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment
