Position Summary

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic K–6 Classroom Teacher to join our elementary school team. This position provides instructional and departmental support across Grades K–6, including classroom coverage, implementation of MVRCS curriculum and instructional practices, student support, and additional academic or administrative responsibilities as assigned. The ideal candidate is organized, collaborative, committed to high academic standards, and comfortable working within a structured, traditional classroom environment.

Responsibilities

The K–6 Classroom Teacher will:

  • Maintain an organized, structured, and productive classroom environment and daily schedule.
  • Establish and maintain high expectations for student behavior while using positive reinforcement strategies, including MVRCS's 4:1 ratio of positive comments.
  • Effectively implement designated curricula using Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge methodologies.
  • Monitor and document student learning and lesson progress and provide required updates to the Professional Development Coordinator.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of Core Knowledge lessons and document successes and areas for improvement.
  • Participate in all required professional development and training.
  • Attend and actively participate in grade-level team meetings, Teacher Assistance Team (TAT) meetings, and staff meetings.
  • Participate in IEP meetings when necessary.
  • Implement required accommodations and modifications outlined in students' IEPs and 504 Plans and complete all required Special Education documentation.
  • Complete progress reports, report cards, and grades for assigned students and academic groups.
  • Conduct four parent-teacher conferences each school year, including two in the fall and two in the spring.
  • Attend Back-to-School Night, open houses, the Holiday Performance, and other required school events.
  • Participate in assigned morning, lunch/recess, and afternoon duties.
  • Support, enforce, and adhere to all MVRCS policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional instructional, classroom coverage, and departmental duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school administration.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess:

  • A bachelor's degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to identify problems, collect and evaluate information, and draw sound conclusions.
  • The ability to perform responsibilities in accordance with school requirements, state and federal laws, and MVRCS policies.
  • Strong collaboration, classroom management, teaching, coaching, and leadership skills.
  • A commitment to supporting student achievement within a structured and academically rigorous environment.
  • Successful completion of applicable Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) requirements within one year of employment.

Employment

This position is evaluated annually and is subject to annual appointment.
