K-6th Grade Paraprofessional
Job Summary:
The Paraprofessional plays a key role in supporting student learning and maintaining an effective classroom environment. Working under the direction of a classroom teacher for instructional responsibilities and an Assistant Director for non-instructional duties, the Paraprofessional helps ensure that all students are engaged, on task, and making academic progress.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support daily instruction and classroom structure
Assist with classroom management using the school's assertive discipline model
Uphold and enforce all school rules and policies
Support students during group and independent work time
Reinforce student engagement, focus, and participation in daily lessons
Provide targeted academic support in reading, language, math, writing, and spelling groups
Monitor student progress and offer assistance to students who need additional support
Check, correct, and/or grade assignments as directed by the teacher
Provide guidance to students on incomplete work or academic questions
Administer assessments and retakes as directed
Participate in assigned supervision duties including arrival, lunch/recess, and dismissal
Attend mandatory school events such as Back to School Night
Support school operations and perform duties as assigned by the Leadership Team
Attend and participate in all required professional development sessions
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
Ability to analyze information and draw valid conclusions
Familiarity with school policies, as well as state and federal education laws
Strong collaboration, classroom support, and interpersonal skills
Willingness to take initiative and support the academic and behavioral success of students
Must pass all applicable MTELs within one year of employment
This is a full-time, annual position subject to yearly performance evaluation
