Special Education Teacher (K–8)
About the Role
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a dedicated, compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our K–8 team. This role is essential to ensuring that every student with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan receives the tailored support they need to thrive. You’ll provide both direct and indirect instructional services in a structured, inclusive environment that emphasizes academic growth, character development, and high expectations for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality instructional support aligned with students’ IEPs and 504 Plans in inclusive settings.
Apply research-based, multisensory teaching strategies to enhance cognitive, language, and academic development.
Establish clear, measurable goals and consistently monitor student progress in academic and behavioral areas.
Serve as case manager for assigned students and facilitate IEP meetings with families and colleagues.
Maintain accurate documentation, including service logs, lesson plans, and progress reports.
Collaborate effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families to meet individual learning needs.
Foster a positive, structured classroom culture that supports student engagement and school-wide expectations.
Ensure testing accommodations are implemented during standardized assessments.
Contribute to curriculum planning, data review meetings, and professional learning opportunities.
Support school operations as needed (e.g., supervision, administrative tasks).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education (required)
SEI Endorsement (required)
Strong communication, organization, and data analysis skills
Thorough understanding of IEP and 504 development, compliance, and implementation
Demonstrated success implementing evidence-based instructional practices in diverse classroom settings
Collaborative, reflective educator committed to continuous improvement
Must successfully complete all required MTEL exams within one year of hire
This is a full-time, school-year position reporting directly to the Head of Special Education. Annual performance evaluations support ongoing professional growth and instructional excellence.
