Students attend school for 200 days each year, with a school day that is 60 minutes longer than that of most traditional public schools. Students adhere to a strict dress code, all of which reinforces the school's mission of providing a world-class education.

Position Overview:

Mystic Valley is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Mathematics Teacher for Grades 7–12. The successful candidate will implement the Saxon Math curriculum with fidelity and may be assigned to teach International Baccalaureate (IB) coursework at the high school level. This position requires strong content knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to collaboration and student achievement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily instruction aligned to the Saxon Math program and, where applicable, the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum.

  • Develop and implement clear, objective-driven lessons and instructional units.

  • Assess student progress regularly and issue timely progress reports and report cards.

  • Administer standardized assessments as directed by the Mathematics Department Chair and school leadership.

  • Participate in weekly collaboration with department colleagues, focusing on curriculum development, instructional strategies, data analysis, and best practices.

  • Uphold the school's assertive discipline policy to maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.

  • Attend staff meetings and engage in ongoing professional development.

  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Mathematics Department Chair or Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mathematics or a related field.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to evaluate student data and recommend appropriate instructional strategies.

  • Effective problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.

  • Understanding of applicable federal and state educational laws, as well as school policies and procedures.

  • Experience assessing student skills and producing meaningful reports.

  • Collaborative mindset with strong teaching, coaching, and leadership capabilities.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

  • Deep content knowledge in mathematics and familiarity with relevant educational standards.

  • Ability to design and deliver lessons tailored to diverse student needs.

  • Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of hire.

Supervision & Evaluation:

This position reports to the Mathematics Department Chair. It is an annual appointment and will be evaluated on a yearly basis.
