Students in Grades K–12 attend school in dress code for a 200-day academic year, with a school day that is 60 minutes longer than most traditional public schools. Together, these elements provide students with the opportunity to receive a truly world-class education.

Grades K–8 Music Teacher

Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a passionate and dedicated Grades K–8 Music Teacher to lead and implement the school's music program. Instruction is aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and fosters artistic growth through music literacy, vocal and instrumental performance, creativity, and disciplined practice. The ideal candidate will inspire a lifelong appreciation for music while maintaining high expectations in a structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality music instruction aligned with the established curriculum.
  • Plan and teach lessons with clear, measurable learning objectives.
  • Assess student progress regularly and maintain accurate grades, progress reports, and report cards.
  • Collaborate with fellow Specials teachers and communicate regularly with the assigned Assistant Director.
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment by implementing the school's assertive discipline model.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, school events, and other required activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (required).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound instructional decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and the broader school community.
  • Knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations, educational practices, and school policies.
  • Strong instructional, classroom management, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Deep content knowledge and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
  • Successful completion of all required MTEL examinations within one year of employment.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, school-year position. Faculty appointments are made on an annual basis and are subject to yearly performance evaluation.
