K–8 Music Teacher
Position Summary:
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School seeks a passionate and dedicated Music Teacher to deliver high-quality instruction in foundational music concepts to students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. This role emphasizes fostering artistic expression, building musical skills, and preparing students for performances, with a focus on string instruments.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement a comprehensive K–8 music program focused on strings aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum
Design and deliver dynamic, objective-driven lessons that promote musical growth and creativity
Assess student progress regularly and communicate performance through progress reports and report cards
Foster a positive, structured classroom environment using the MVRCS assertive discipline model
Collaborate with Specials department colleagues and the assigned Assistant Director to ensure program consistency
Participate actively in staff meetings and professional development opportunities
Support and contribute to school-wide events, concerts, and performances
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Music or Music Education required
Experience teaching music and/or conducting string ensembles
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Strong classroom management and organizational abilities
Demonstrated commitment to student development and performance excellence
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to assess student learning and adjust instruction accordingly
Collaborative mindset with a focus on building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Knowledge of state and federal education laws and school policies
Must successfully complete applicable MTELs within one year of employment
Position Details:
This is a full-time, 11-month position subject to annual performance evaluation.
