Position Overview: Art Teacher (Grades K–8)
Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is seeking a dedicated and creative Art Teacher to implement the school’s art curriculum for students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. The ideal candidate will be skilled in both artistic techniques and instructional best practices, committed to fostering artistic expression, and enthusiastic about supporting students in their creative development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver art instruction aligned with the Core Knowledge curriculum and school objectives

  • Design and implement clear, objective-driven lessons that promote artistic growth and appreciation

  • Assess student progress regularly and provide timely feedback through progress reports and report cards

  • Create sample artwork and guide students in developing their skills through coaching and demonstration

  • Maintain a positive, structured learning environment using the school's assertive discipline model

  • Collaborate weekly with colleagues in the Specials department and the assigned Assistant Director

  • Attend all staff meetings and participate in professional development programs

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art, Art Education, or a related field

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instruction to meet student needs

  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and families

  • Knowledge of educational laws, policies, and best practices relevant to art education

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities

  • Experience developing and implementing engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans

  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to teamwork and student success

  • Successful completion of applicable MTEL exams within one year of employment

Additional Information:
This is a full-time, annual position subject to yearly performance evaluation.
